Compounding: Pain Relief
pain 1. An unpleasant sensation occurring in varying degrees of severity as a consequence of injury, disease, or emotional disorder. 2. Suffering or distress. The American Heritage Dictionary
The treatment of pain is probably as old as the pharmacy profession itself, and certainly, pain is the number one reason that people seek medical treatment. Despite the fact that all people have, or will, suffer with a bout of acute or chronic pain at some point in their lives, pain management continues to be poorly handled by the health system. That is tragic, given that pain affects the quality of life and economic security of not only the person with pain, but also of his or her family.
Despite major advances that have been made in pain research and product development, there continues to be a gap between commercially available treatments, and the needs of the individual pain patient. This is where the specialty compounding service at Peoples Pharmacy can help.
For those patients who have achieved sub-optimal results with their pain medications, or who have trouble tolerating their medication in its current dosage form, Peoples Pharmacy can help. Peoples Pharmacy's goal in pain management is to provide alternatives for the multitude of problems faced by the pain patient. At Peoples Pharmacy, pain management is really all about options: options for the physician and his or her patient. It is our role to offer you those options.
